Brochures
Many car enthusiasts will tell you that as kids, they’d go to car dealerships and collect new-model brochures. I believe that even in our twitterized, app-centric world, there’s still a place for well-crafted copy that invites the reader’s imagination into the car. Getting people to dream about themselves in your car -- isn’t that the point? See samples below.
BMW 7 Series
An advertising agency contracted me to write copy for the 2009 BMW 7 Series launch brochure. In its original form, the brochure was a 100-page hardbound book suitable for proud display on any coffee table. The version available for download from the BMW website, unfortunately, was greatly abbreviated, with very little text. I have seen copies of the original brochure available on eBay for about $25. |
Subaru Impreza WRX STI
The Subaru Impreza WRX STI was one of the most anticipated performance car launches. This car was packed with technology, including one of the most advanced all-wheel drive systems on the market. I distilled highly technical language into understandable and engaging copy -- a specialty of mine. You can download a scanned PDF here, or find copies on eBay. I also wrote all the Subaru showroom brochures for the 2004 model year. |
Mercedes-Benz McLaren SLR Events
When Mercedes-Benz designed special U.S. driving events for SLR McLaren owners, the company contacted me to write the brochure copy. The same client, Karen Matri at Mercedes-Benz USA, hired me to write the script for the Maybach DVD and, pleased with the results, said this: "Jim's sense of all things automotive is impeccable. There is a fine line between luxury and ultra-luxury, and Jim Koscs has the uncanny ability to separate them out, or blend them when necessary." See more on the Buzz page. |
